A registered technologist specializes in radiography and radiation physics. He/she must complete a two-year intensive program and successfully pass a written registry examination. Due to strict standards, hospitals often employ the most talented and skilled professionals in this field.

The physician with a subspecialty in a particular area offers the patient heightened insight and expertise. Subspecialty training gives the physician a greater breadth and depth of knowledge which benefits the patient.

Patient Information

Your physician has chosen Overlake Medical Imaging for your radiology exam. As specialists in a wide range of imaging technologies, we are able to capture the detailed anatomical information needed for accurate diagnosis and treatment. Our reputation in this area combined with an outstanding commitment to patient care is reflected in the trust your doctor has placed in us for your procedure.

When calling for an appointment, please be prepared to provide the following information about the person for whom the exam is being ordered:

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Social security number
  • Insurance information
  • Location of relevant imaging studies/films done in the past two years
  • Date of follow up appointment with referring physician

Depending on the exam, you may be asked other questions to ensure your safety and the appropriateness of the procedure. You can request that we mail you all pertinent information about your exam so you will know what preparation is needed, if any, and what to expect on the day of your appointment.

Insurance Issues
Overlake Medical Imaging accepts most major insurance plans. We’ll make every effort to contact your insurance company to gain authorization or certification for the ordered exam and verify coverage. However, you are ultimately responsible for paying for services, including any balance not covered by insurance.

Exam Day Check-In
On the day of your exam, we ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your exam time (20 minutes for an ultrasound exam). This will allow us to verify your registration information and have you fill out any additional forms, as needed. Be sure to bring your insurance card(s) and any of the patient forms you printed out and completed.

Patients whose procedure requires an oral contrast agent for imaging enhancement may need to arrive 90 minutes ahead of the exam to drink the contrast. If this pertains to your study, you will be advised of this requirement in your Patient Preparations guidelines.

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please notify our office at least 24 hours in advance, or as soon as possible.

Reports are normally sent to the referring clinician within 24 hours of the exam. The imaging study done at Overlake Medical Imaging may be only one tool in your clinician's work up. Thus, they may need additional time to correlate all of the associated reports and data before they are ready to talk to you. Overlake and your referring clinician politely request that you wait for your clinician's office to contact you about the scan results.

Image Study Reprint Policy
Referring clinician offices will be provided image studies on a CD or via the Internet (HIPAA compliant).

Clinician offices that require film of an imaging study will have it provided to them at the time the scan is done. It will be delivered by an Overlake courier or the patient can hand-deliver the film.

If additional copies of the study are required:

  • For a second referral or a personal copy, we will be happy to provide a CD copy of your study at no charge (*this is for hospital locations only). You will be charged a fee for film copies (see below)
  • To order, please contact the film library at 425-688-0100, ext 5. They will print the CD or film and take it to the front desk (at Suite 260 in Bellevue or Suite 105 in Issaquah) where you can pick the copies up.
  • The CD copy is free. The film cost is $5.00 per sheet of film, not to exceed a maximum of $50 per copy of each study filmed. This can be paid for by credit card, check, or cash. Film orders require a 24-hour advance notice for both "to be picked up at the front desk" and "to be mailed" requests.

Most clinician offices do not have space to store patient films and they are discarded after your visit. Ask your clinician if you can keep the film of your study for your personal file. Most will be happy to give it to you.

Note:  If you want to have a CD sent to an address other than your home address we have on file, or to your clinician of record, or to be picked up by someone other than yourself, we will need to have a consent form signed by you.
