$45.00 per couple. Fathers are encouraged to attend.

Description

  • This is Class 4 of 4 classes designed to prepare you for birth and caring for your newborn.

    If the registration says "Class Full" please click on "Alternative Dates Available" to find another date.

    Class 2:  Breastfeeding

    This 2-hour Breastfeeding course is the 4th class in a series of 4 classes, designed to prepare you for birth and caring for a newborn. This class is filled with essential information for you to help prepare for breastfeeding. 

     

    To best prepare you from labor to parenting a newborn, we also recommend the following classes:

     

    Class 1:  Childbirth Preparation

    Class 2:  Newborn Care

    Class 3:  Labor Coping Skills

     

    Recommended to be taken during the 2nd or 3rd trimester.  This 2 hour, class is taught by certified lactation consultants.

    Taught by certified lactation consultants this class is filled with essential information for you to help prepare for breastfeeding 

    Topics Include:

    • What to expect from the breastfeeding baby
    • Benefits of Breastfeeding
    • Breast Preparation, Anatomy and Physiology of the breast
    • Breastfeeding Basics, positions, latching etc.
    • Recognizing Hunger Cues and Feeding Patterns
    • Solving common breastfeeding problems, when to call for help
    • Storage, Pumps and Support Items
    • Dad's role - Fathers are encouraged to attend
    • Ample time for questions
    • Text book Understanding Breastfeeding included

    Registration, class location and cancelations:

    • Classes, schedules and fees are subject to change
    • There are no refunds for missed classes
    • No children permitted in class. No childcare available
    • Class cancellations received by the registrar seven days prior to the class are entitled to a refund

     

    Congratulations on registering for class! There are two more important steps to complete before your delivery at Overlake.

    1. Choose a Doctor for Your Baby: Before you go to the hospital, be sure to select a pediatrician or family practice doctor for your new baby. To find a pediatric or family practice physician, visit overlakehospital.org/findaphysician or call 425-688-5211. Be sure to bring the doctor's information with you to the hospital when you deliver.

    2. Pre-register for admission: To simplify your arrival on the day of your delivery and to allow us to prepare for your stay at Overlake, please be sure to pre-register online at overlakehospital.org/prereg
