Overlake Medical Clinics Acquires Overlake Internal Medicine Associates Oncology Practice

Bellevue, Wash. – Overlake Medical Clinics recently acquired Overlake Internal Medicine Associates (OIMA) Medical Oncology.  The three physicians, five nurses and five additional staff members formerly employed at Overlake Internal Medicine Associates Medical Oncology became employees of Overlake Medical Clinics. They will continue to provide medical oncology patient care services at the current location in the Overlake Medical Tower on the hospital campus.

“Overlake has the leading oncology program in the area,” said David Schultz, Overlake’s executive vice president and chief operating officer. “This integration is core to development of a consolidated outpatient cancer center with comprehensive, integrated cancer services. The new Overlake Cancer Center will offer our patients seamless and efficient access to the best services on the Eastside and our physicians an opportunity to more closely collaborate about coordinated patient care.”

Over the past three years, Overlake has focused on adding new primary and specialty care clinics and expanding its employed physician network to better integrate services and better serve patients.

In addition to the medical oncology services, the hospital’s plans for the consolidated cancer center include a cancer resource center, radiation oncology, a breast surgery clinic, tumor registry and centralized offices for the social workers and patient navigators who guide and support patients through every stage of their treatment. Nearly $311,000 has already been raised for the consolidated cancer center toward a goal of $1.35 million. Overlake’s Cancer Center has been awarded a Three-Year Approval with Commendation from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.

Overlake Hospital Medical Center is a nonprofit, non-tax-supported regional medical center with a network of medical clinics throughout the Eastside. The hospital is licensed for 349 beds and offers a comprehensive range of services including cardiac care, cancer care, general and specialty surgery, women's programs, senior care, psychiatric services and it was the first Level III trauma service on the Eastside. Overlake also participates in a wide range of community outreach activities including health fairs, free health screening events, wellness classes and wellness publications.
